Admission criteria for MSc in Human Physiology

  • Candidates who meet the following requirements shall be admitted to the Master’s program in Medical Physiology;
  1.   A candidate who holds a degree in Medicine (MD) or Veterinary medicine (D.V.M.) or B.Sc. in any health profession, Biology, biotechnology from any recognized institution of higher education.
  2. The applicant must meet all of the academic and non-academic admission requirements of Graduate Studies of the University of Gondar.
  3. The candidate shall be admitted to the program if she/he successfully passes the entrance examination set by the department.

Admission criteria MSc in Physiotherapy

      • The minimum admission requirement to the Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy is a BSc in Physiotherapy, fulfillment of the University of Gondar’s admission requirements and a minimum of two years of clinical or academic work experience (depending on sponsorship). The course will be open to both clinical and academic physiotherapy staff. Potential students must be able to participate fully in all clinical aspects of the course

Admission criteria MSc in integrated clinical and community mental health

The minimum admission requirements to join the master’s degree in integrated clinical and community mental health (MSc in ICCMH):

  • General practitioner( medical doctor)
  • BSc in public health
  • BSc in Psychiatric Nursing
  • BSc in Nursing
  • The candidate must pass the entrance examination
  • The candidate must fulfill criteria set by the senate legislation for postgraduate admission of the University of Gondar.

Academic Requirement

  • This program is committed to accommodate diversity alongside gender. Adding to the requirements from the Ministry of Education, applications will be assessed in the light of candidates’ ability to meet the following requirements:

    1. Academic Ability: - proven and potential academic excellence will be measured by written and oral exam.Candidatesshould qualify by passing the entrance examin addition to fulfilling the criteria set by Ministry of Education and the School of Post-Graduate at the University of Gondar. Applicants are expected to be having “a CGPA of 2.00 and above at their BSc degree in Biochemistry or a related disciplines such MD, DVM, DDM, BSc Biology, BSc Chemistry, BSc Health Officer, BSc Nursing, B.Pharmacy, BSc Anesthesia, BSc. in Biotecneology, BSc. in Nutrition, Medical Laboratory Science, Ophthalmology, Environmental, Biomedical Engineering degree and from any field who took at least one Biochemistry course in their undergraduate study from recognized universities.
    2. References/Letters of recommendation will be considered. Applicants require a minimum of two references for consideration.All references must support intellectual ability, academic achievement, and motivation for Master Degree studies and with the ability to work independently. Academic references are preferred, though professional references are acceptable if students have spent a significant amount of time outside academic works. Oral interview may be conducted if necessary in order to assess the ability and aptitude of the candidate to fit into the program.
    3. Other Factors Governing Acceptability: There are many other issues determiningadmission. The following dynamics will govern whethercandidates can be offered places:
    • The abilityof the Department of Biochemistry to provide appropriate supervision, research opportunities, teaching and facilities for the chosen area of work. 
    • Minimum and maximum limits to the numbers of Medical Biochemistry MSc students who may be admitted to the University of Gondar. For the inaugural/opening program, 5 candidates will be admitted. Nonetheless, the number of students that will be admitted to the program may vary from year to year.
    • The allocation of graduate supervision is the responsibility of the Department of Biochemistry and it is not always possible to accommodate the preferences of incoming students to work with a particular member of staff. 
    • Under exceptional circumstances a supervisor may be found outside the Department of Biochemistry.
    • Where possible an academic supervisor will not change for the duration of the course, however it may be necessary to assign a new academic supervisor during the course of study or before registration for reasons which might include sabbatical leave, maternity leave, or change in employment.
    • Candidates who will join the program generally should qualify the entrance examination and document evaluation with competency ≥ 60%
