Technology Transfer

Chief Directorate of Research, Community Service and Technology Transfer Welcome to the Office of the Research, Community Services and Technology Transfer Directorate. It is one of the offices established under the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and Specialized Hospital on 2018. From 2014 to 2018, the office has been headed by 3 coordinators separately: Research, Community Service and Technology Transfer. In 2018 it was restructured and headed by the chief directorate level. We work closely with both internal and external collaborators to generate high level evidence and provide high-quality services that support the University’s mission and vision. It is s the first place to go if you have any idea of research, community services and technology transfer. The directorate comprises the following offices

Websites and applications are developed and adopted such as academic portal, student placement, apartment management, e-justice for customers, project management, laboratory information management, student information guides and the UoG website.

Various improved livestock breeds and crop varieties are adapted, popularized and demonstrated including dairy synchronization, one-day old chicken, quality protein maize, improved food and malt-barley participatory varietal selection, dukem tef, and vegetables.

Several technologies are designed, fabricated and transferred to end users such as village electrification using solar panels, tef row planter, honey bee colony transfer, vermi- composting, dog restraining tools, bone crushing machine, pharmacy compounding.

COVID-19 preventive tools and equipment are designed and assembled. Some of the technologies include mechanical ventilator, IV-stand, face-shield, automatic and semi-automatic hand washing and dispensers, sanitizer, venture value, splitter, door opener, drone, and other 3D products.

  2. Collaborate with the Vice President on research and technology transfer
  3. He/she shall be a member of the University Senate.
  4. He/she shall be a member of the management of the college.
  5. Works in coordination with CAD, CCD and business and development
  6. Responsible for research, community services and technology transfer activities
  7. Identify and implement community engaging and problem-solving activities;
  8. Monitor the research results of the institution for publication
  9. Directs projects; strives for consistency and clarity
  10. Plans field stays for students; monitors and executes
  11. Verifies according to the guidelines before conducting various research questions
  12. Provides up-to-date reports to CED and Vice President for research and technology transfer
